HATTIESBURG, Miss. – Southern Miss opens a four-game, week-long road swing Tuesday with a midweek game versus Tulane at Greer Field at Turchin Stadium. Game time is set for 6:30 p.m.

The contest can be seen via ESPN+ as well as heard through an affiliate of the Southern Miss Sports Network as well as via SouthernMiss.com.

Southern Miss (25-15) is fresh of a weekend series win over ULM, run-ruling the Warhawks 14-3 and 13-3 over the first two games, before falling in the finale 5-1. The loss on Sunday ended a nine-game winning streak over ULM as well as a current Southern Miss four-game winning streak. The Golden Eagles scored double-digit runs twice for the first time in a league series since doing it at home last season versus Arkansas State.

The Golden Eagles will go with sophomore right-hander JB Middleton (Yazoo City, Miss.), who gets the call for the Golden Eagles. This will be the second start of his 25 career appearances over the last two seasons. His first start came last year on April 11 at Alabama, in which he threw one inning and allowed two runs (one earned) on two hits with a walk and no strikeouts. This season, Middleton is 1-1 on the year over 17 relief appearances in 2024. He has thrown 21 1/3 frames and allowed 19 hits, 10 runs, eight earned runs, 13 walks and 27 strikeouts while opponents are hitting .235 in 2024.

Southern Miss looks to sweep the season series with the Green Wave (22-18) after winning in Hattiesburg last month, 9-4. The Golden Eagles have won the last five games in the series despite trailing 100-66-1 overall since the two teams started playing baseball in 1949.

Following the Tulane contest, the Golden Eagles return to action on the road this weekend when they travel to Louisiana for a three-game Sun Belt Conference series. The set gets underway with a 6 p.m., tilt Friday.
