HATTIESBURG, Miss. – After dropping two of three games to Illinois over the weekend, the No. 25 ranked Southern Miss baseball team takes to the road for the first time this spring when they travel to Trustmark Park in Pearl to face Mississippi State in a 6 p.m., contest.
The Golden Eagles are 5-2 to open the season, while the Bulldogs enter at 5-3 after winning two of three at home over Arizona State over the weekend. The game can be heard on an affiliate of the Southern Miss Sports Network or seen via webcast on the SEC Network+.
The game marks the only time that these two programs will meet, as it will be the 129th game in the series with the Bulldogs holding an 84-44 record. Southern Miss snapped a three-game losing streak to the Bulldogs last season with a 7-1 win at Trustmark Park and has won five of the last eight meetings between the schools. Under Scott Berry, the Golden Eagles are 8-12 against Mississippi State.

Left-handed newcomer Tyler Martin gets his first start for the Golden Eagles against the Bulldogs. The Webb City, Mo., product and Nebraska transfer has appeared in two games and posted no record with a 4.50 ERA.
