HATTIESBURG, Miss. – Cade Baker collected a two-run triple and Cade Adams added a two-run single to lead the Black to a 5-1 victory in the final game of the best of five series to win the 2026 Southern Miss Fall World Series Monday night at Pete Taylor Park/Hill Denson Field.
The game was scoreless through the first three innings of the five-inning contest as both starters, Camden Sunstrom for the Black and Camden Clark of the Gold, each threw three shutout frames. Sunstrom gave up two hits and fanned one, while Clark allowed a hit, a walk and fanned three.
The Black squad finally got on the board in the fourth with Baker's two-run triple. Seth Smith cut into the lead with a solo home run to left.
A three-run fifth, though for the Black team put the game out of reach with Adams two-run single, followed by a Brady Waugh RBI single.
Reliever Cole Richardson limited the Gold to a run on a hit with a strikeout to earn the victory, while reliever Cade Durbin suffered the loss by allowing two runs on one hit with a walk and a strikeout over a third of a frame.
The Golden Eagles now complete the fall portion of their season and look toward the Feb. 17 season opener at home against North Dakota State. Tickets are available for purchase at SouthernMiss.com/tickets.
