Golden Eagles Improve to 2-1 on the Season
HATTIESBURG, Miss. – The Southern Miss Golden Eagles (2-1) shutout the Texas Southern Tigers (0-3) 7-0 in Friday's home match at the USM Track & Field and Soccer Complex. For Southern Miss, their 7-0 victory over Texas Southern was their second consecutive 7-0 victory this season. USM also defeated the ULM Warhawks 7-0 on Sunday afternoon.
Miah Zuazua and Stephanie Garcia led the way for the Golden Eagles with two goals each. JoAnnie Ramos, Keely Hoppmeyer and Olivia Durham all contributed to the scoring with one goal each.
Zuazua, Ola Akinniyi and Morgan Robertson were each credited with an assist.
Southern Miss will return to the pitch on Friday, August 31 when they take on Grambling State in a 5:00 p.m. (CT) road contest at the GSU Soccer Complex in Grambling, La.
