Bio
Southern Miss baseball coach Scott Berry announced in February 2017 that former Golden Eagle pitcher Collin Cargill has returned to the program to hold the position of Coordinator of Baseball Operations. Cargill's duties will include organizing the team's travel, fundraising and serving as the program's liaison with its booster club, "The Dugout Club" as well as assisting in all Golden Eagle camps and on-campus recruiting. "We are happy to be able to bring back a Golden Eagle to the program in Collin," said Berry. "We felt like he was the perfect fit for this position and I have no doubt that he will excel for us in this important role within our program." The Hattiesburg, Miss., native lettered for the Golden Eagles from 2008-11 and holds a share of the school record for career saves with 30. Cargill was a member of the 2009 College World Series squad and played in four consecutive regionals during his tenure. After being chosen in the 2011 Major League Baseball First-Year Draft in the 22nd round by the Miami Marlins, Cargill played four seasons in the organization making it as high as Triple A. In those four seasons, he posted a combined 13-5 record with five saves in 143 games pitched in relief over 189 2/3 innings pitched, while also tallying 116 strikeouts. He joins the program after spending the last two years working with 59 Baseball, an area travel baseball team.
