Track and Field Travels to Compete in Crimson Tide Invitational

HATTIESBURG, Miss. — Southern Miss Track and Field heads down to Tuscaloosa, Ala. To compete in the Crimson Tide Invitational, hosted by Alabama on Friday.

Friday's hammer throw will begin at 11 a.m., with the men's 4x400m relay ending the day at 8:35 p.m. The one-day meet will be held at the Sam Bailey Track and Field Stadium, in which fans are encouraged to park in the Coleman Lot, with overflow parking options available in the Capstone Deck across the street.

Last time out, the Golden Eagles brought home 16 wins at the Southern Miss Invitational, behind multiple event victories from its senior class. Kennedi Sanders led the way with wins in the 100 meters (11.63) and 200 meters (23.91), while Cadence Lapp claimed the 3000-meter steeplechase title in 11:00.61. On the men's side, Javel Fullerton set a meet record in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 51.44, helping highlight a successful Senior Day for the Golden Eagles.

The Golden Eagles will be taking 21 women and 19 men to compete. Among these athletes is Tyler Nichols, who leads the NCAA in the Long Jump event and was named Sun Belt Men's Field Athlete of the week for his 8.06-meter jump at the Southern Miss Invitational.
