Southern Miss Women’s Track and Field Finishes Season at NCAA East First Rounds

LEXINGTON, Ky. – Southern Miss junior Alana Simon completed her season in the women's high jump at the NCAA East Region First Rounds at the UK Track & Field Complex, finishing 14th overall in the East Region.

The Baton Rouge, Louisiana, native posted a new NCAA postseason best with a mark of 5-9¼ (1.76m) in her third all-time appearance in the NCAA East First Rounds. Simon finished tied for 14th in the event as one of seven jumpers knotted just outside the qualifying mark.

Simon cleared the first bar of the day at 5-7¼ (1.71m) in one attempt and again needed just one go at 5-9¼ to advance again. She was unable to advance after three tries at 5-10½ (1.79m).

Southern Miss completes its time in Lexington with two athletes advancing to the national championship meet in Eugene, Oregon, beginning on Wednesday, June 10, 2026.
