Golden Eagle Track & Field Closes Regular Season at Jaguar Invitational

HATTIESBURG, Miss. – Southern Miss men's and women's outdoor track & field wraps up the 2026 spring regular season at South Alabama's Jaguar Invitational in Mobile, Alabama. The Golden Eagles have 51 entries across 24 combined men's and women's events at the one-day meet.
Southern Miss will be joined by nine other teams at the Jaguar Track, including Louisiana, Loyola New Orleans, Marion Military Institute, Mobile, South Alabama, Southern, Spring Hill, United States Sports University and Xavier (La.). Additionally, club teams from Auburn and South Alabama have athletes in the heat sheets as well as 23 unattached entries.
Due to inclement weather in and around Mobile, start times have been adjusted for events with field events now starting at 11:30 a.m. and track events starting at 4 p.m. The Jaguar Invitational will be timed by Port City Timing of Spanish Fort, Alabama. Southern Miss last laced up its spikes for the Josh Reidinger Invitational in Homewood, Alabama, at Samford's Shauna Yelton Field at Samford Track/Soccer Complex. The Golden Eagles took the top spot on the podium in five different events and placed a total of 11 entries on the podium.
Addison McLaurin took the women's 200-meters with a 23.87-second time with Kennedi Sanders finishing just behind at 23.89 seconds. Javel Fullerton dominated the men's 400-meter hurdles with a 51.46-second time while Conner Mozee took the top spot in the men's discus with a mark of 175-3 (53.42m). Elijiah Kellum also won the men's triple jump with a meet-best 45-1 (13.74m).
Southern Miss' women's 4x400-meter relay team got the Golden Eagles their fifth overall top finish in an event on the weekend with a time of 45.46 seconds. The mark set a new season-best for the Golden Eagle 4x400 team and put the team into the top 100 on the 2026 NCAA rankings.
Three Southern Miss athletes set personal bests at the meet as well with five others posting season-best marks. Mike Jones clocked a 10.64-second personal best in the men's 100-meters to finish fourth; Isaiah Lowery took sixth in the men's long jump with a personal best mark of 22-6½ (6.87m); and Kaylee Spencer placed seventh in the women's long jump after a personal record 18-1½ (5.52m).
Ten of Southern Miss' entries are favored to take the top spot in their events. Sierra Edwards has the best seed time in the women's 100-meter hurdles, Valentino Rudolph owns the top time in the men's 200-meters and Addison McLaurin is favored to win the women's 400-meters. In the women's 800-meters, Southern Miss has six total entries in the event with all six projected to finish inside the top 10, led by Emme Bates' seed time of 2:07.05.
Cadence Lapp has the field's top time in the women's 3,000-meter steeplechase, Conner Mozee is favored in the men's discus throw, Tyler Nichols is favored in the men's high jump and De'Aundre Ward and Sidney Allen are each favored to win the men's and women's long jumps, respectively. Finally, Elijiah Kellum has the top seeded mark in the men's triple jump.
