Baseball Finishes Four-Game Homestand against Southeastern Louisiana

HATTIESBURG, Miss. – The Southern Miss baseball team closes out a four-game homestand Tuesday night when they play host to Southeastern Louisiana in a 6 p.m. contest at Pete Taylor Park/Hill Denson Field.
The game can be seen via ESPN+ as well as heard on an affiliate of the Southern Miss Sports Network and through SouthernMiss.com. A limited number of the standing room only seating is still available by clicking here.
The Golden Eagles (21-7) continue to be ranked in all of this week's major polls, including a No. 8 ranking by D1Baseball.com. The Lions are 16-12 after enjoying a three-game Southland Conference sweep of New Orleans over the weekend.
This will be the second meeting between the two clubs this season, with the Golden Eagles earning a 3-1 triumph in Hammond last month. The Golden Eagles scored twice in the ninth, with Joey Urban and Matthew Russo providing RBI singles in the deciding inning to go along with eight pitchers limiting the Lions to one four hits with 12 strikeouts in the road victory.
The series, which dates back to 1948, shows Southern Miss holding an 83-49 advantage including a current streak of four consecutive wins.
The Golden Eagles are fresh off taking two of three games over App State this past weekend. They collected three homers in the series finale, snapping a three-game homerless streak.
Kyle Morrison belted two of the three Sunday home runs, and he continues to lead the Golden Eagles in hitting with a .347 average to go along with a team-high 10 long balls as well as a team-best tying 28 RBI.
Urban also has driven in 28 runs to go along with a .324 average and eight home runs. Davis Gillespie adds a .311 batting mark to the mix with six home runs and 21 RBI.
Golden Eagle senior Kros Sivley (3-1, 3.86 ERA) is set to make his 88th career appearance and 14th start against the Lions. He will face junior right-hander Luke Lirette (1-1, 4.38 ERA) for the Lions.
Following the SLU contest, the Golden Eagles return to the road to face Old Dominion, starting Thursday and running through Saturday in Norfolk, Va. The series opener is set for 5 p.m. CT.
