Track and Field Notches Seven Wins at Jaguar Invitational

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Golden Eagles made their mark with seven event wins at the South Alabama Jaguar Invitational Sunday at the Birmingham Crossplex.

The Golden Eagle men earned four wins. Valentino Rudolph won the 400 meters in 47.40 seconds. Piers Cameron captured first place in the shot put with a throw of 19.03 meters. Isaiah Lowrey claimed the triple jump title with a mark of 14.22 meters, while Conner Mozee won the weight throw at 19.32 meters. Tyler Nichols finished second in the high jump after clearing 2.10 meters, and Maximus Littleton placed fourth at the same height. Justin Johnson placed fourth in the triple jump (14.01m). Markeith Thompson finished sixth in the 60-meter hurdles (8.56). Tyrique Lewis placed seventh in the 200 meters (21.95), Mason Watkins finished seventh in the 800 meters (1:56.83), and Quamarion Oatis placed seventh in the weight throw (16.48m).

The women's team recorded multiple top-eight finishes, led by Addison McLaurin's win in the 400 meters (55.26), Joidon Boddie's win in the Triple Jump (12.14m) and Alana Simon's victory in the high jump (1.70m). Olivia Smith finished second in the 800 meters (2:16.33), while Sierra Edwards placed third in the 60-meter hurdles (8.91). Cadence Lapp added a third-place finish in the 3,000 meters (10:02.26). Tacherria Lawson placed fourth in the 60 meters (7.67) and seventh in the 200 meters (25.35), while Valencia Watson finished fourth in the 200 meters (24.83). Additional finishes included Amaria Bankhead (fifth, 60m hurdles, 9.15), Alexane Hunte (seventh, 800m, 2:22.11), Indea Pounds (sixth, high jump, 1.59m), Boddie (fifth, long jump, 5.41m), Meagan Womack (sixth, shot put, 13.11m; fourth, weight throw, 15.94m) and Aryn Eady (seventh, shot put, 12.41m).

Southern Miss heads back to Birmingham Feb. 6 and 7th to compete in the UAB Green and Gold Invitational.
