Boddie Claims Two of Eight Wins on Final Day of Green and Gold Invitational

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Joidon Boddie brings home two of eight Southern Miss wins at the UAB Green and Gold Invitational Saturday in the Birmingham Crossplex. Boddie claimed titles in both the long jump (5.55m) and triple jump (12.38m). The men and women each claimed four victories, allowing Southern Miss to take home the most event wins over the course of the day over all other programs at the meet.
The Golden Eagles made their mark throughout the day by claiming victories from both the women's and men's squads. In addition to Boddie's wins on the women's side, Cadence Lapp won the mile in 4:56.65, while Alana Simon captured first in the high jump with a clearance of 1.76 meters. For the men, Tyler Nichols earned a win in the high jump at 2.10 meters, De'Aundre Ward took first in the long jump with a leap of 7.60 meters, and Conner Mozee won the weight throw at 19.23 meters. Piers Cameron added a fourth consecutive victory in the shot put, throwing 18.58 meters.
In additional women's top eight finishes, Sierra Edwards placed fifth in the 60-meter hurdles (8.73), while Kennedi Sanders finished third in the 400 meters with a time of 56.19. Emme Bates recorded a runner-up finish in the 600 meters at 1:34.23, followed by Jaellene Burgess in third (1:35.79). Indy Grajalez finished fifth in the mile (5:13.12), Olivia Smith placed sixth (5:13.18) and Presley Miller took eighth (5:14.89). Indea Pounds added a fourth-place finish in the high jump with a mark of 1.60 meters, while Kaylee Spencer placed seventh in the long jump (5.25m). Meagan Womack finished fourth in the shot put, posting a throw of 13.59 meters.
On the men's side, Markeith Thompson finished eighth in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.59. Javel Fullerton placed seventh in the 400 meters (49.43), while Isaiah Thomas finished eighth (49.45). Saxon Brown recorded a fourth-place finish in the 600 meters at 1:20.25, followed by Jaden Gray in seventh (1:23.04). Mason Watkins placed sixth in the mile, running 4:22.72. While Nichols earned the win in the high jump, Southern Miss swept all top three spots as Maximus Littleton finished second in the high jump with a mark of 2.07 meters while Tyler Hughes took third (2.04m). Isaiah Lowrey added a fourth-place finish in the triple jump at 14.71 meters, and Quamarion Oatis placed seventh in the weight throw (17.03m). Michael Kasemervisz rounded out the men's top eight finishes with a seventh-place effort in the shot put, throwing 14.89 meters.
The Golden Eagles will compete in the Vanderbilt Music City Challenge on Friday, Feb. 13 in Nashville, Tenn.
