Cross Country Opens 2025 Season at Battle for New Orleans

NEW ORLEANS, La. — Southern Miss cross country is set to open its season Friday evening at the Battle for New Orleans, hosted by the University of New Orleans. The 4,000-meter race will begin at 5:15 p.m.
The Golden Eagles' roster features nine returners and six newcomers, making it one of the largest in school history with 15 total athletes.
Graduate student Maria Kaylor, who placed third at last year's Sun Belt Conference Cross Country Championships, headlines the returning group. Kaylor was also a two-time SBC Runner of the Week in the 2024 season. Other returners include Cadence Lapp, Sylvia White, Emme Bates, Corinne Croy, Lexi Cooper, Olivia Smith, Sophie West and Jaellene Burgess.
Newcomers to the squad are Hayley Datema, Katie Galgoczy, Indy Grajalez, Alexane Hunt, Presley Miller and Addison Rainey.
Spectator parking is available at the corner of Alumni Drive and Elysian Fields Avenue.
