SAN MARCOS, Texas – The Southern Miss baseball team returns to the road this weekend to face Texas State for a three-game Sun Belt Conference series, starting Friday at Bobcat Ballpark at 6 p.m.
Â
All three games can be seen via ESPN+, as well as heard on an affiliate of the Southern Miss Sports Network.
Â
The Golden Eagles (22-11 overall, 8-4 Sun Belt) find themselves in a four-way tie for first place in the league along with Troy, Coastal Carolina and Georgia State, while the Bobcats (16-16, 6-6) are two games back, tied for seventh place.
Â
This series started with the Golden Eagles inaugural season of Sun Belt Conference baseball in 2023 at Bobcat Ballpark. The Golden Eagles won their first-ever Sun Belt 4-2 here, before dropping the final two games of the set. Last season, Southern Miss collected two of three games in the series.
Â
Southern Miss, ranked as high as No. 23, looks to snap a current two-game losing steak as they are 1-3 on this road swing, which features eight consecutive games away from home. It is the longest scheduled stretch of games away from Pete Taylor Park since 2012.
Â
Senior Carson Paetow, who has hit safely in the last seven games including two hits at Alabama Tuesday night, holds a batting mark of .293 with team highs of 11 doubles and 10 home runs.
Â
Fellow senior Ozzie Pratt, who leads the team in RBI with 33, comes off a three-hit night in Tuscaloosa that included his fifth homer of the campaign.
Â
Following the Texas State series, the Golden Eagles complete this road stretch Tuesday at Southeastern Louisiana.
