Men’s Golf Finish Day One at the Fallen Oak Collegiate Invitational

SAUCIER, Miss.— Southern Miss Men's golf team opened its last fall tournament with the 3rd Annual Fallen Oak Collegiate Invitational; co-hosted by Southern Miss, Mississippi State and Ole Miss. The Golden Eagles end the day tied for 13th logging 294 strokes through 18 holes.
The Canadian native, Matthew Javier carded the low round for the Golden Eagles opening the day with an even 72 following four birdies. Junior Benjamin Fernandez started his day with an eagle on hole one, a par five spanning 596 yards, slotting into an eight-person tie for first place in number of eagles.
Freshman, Jake Moffitt picked up three birdies on the day closing out his card 2-over 74, with fellow Mississippi native in Walker Wise who posted two birdies on a 3-over 75 landing them placed tied-for 59 and tied-for 66. Supakorn Amornchaichan started the day from hole 10 firing two birdies on hole 13 and hole 8 with Will Burnham following to pick up a birdie on hole 10.
The Golden Eagles conclude the first of three days 6-over par with LSU leading the pack 15-under par followed by Ole Miss and Alabama who round out the top three.
