The Golden Eagles won for the second-straight time to up their season record to 17-9 overall and 5-2 in Sun Belt Conference play. Troy fell to 17-10 and 3-4.
Both McIntrye's five-hit game and the Golden Eagles 20-hit outburst is the first time that they have accomplished both feats since March 26, 2022, at WKU.
Offensively, Slade Wilks and Nick Monistere each drove in three runs with Ozzie Pratt knocked in a pair as the Golden Eagles scored four runs in three separate innings to capture the contest in a 10-run rule affair.
Niko Mazza (5-1) got the win as he limited the Trojans to three runs (one earned) on five hits and three walks with four strikeouts, while Troy starter and Hattiesburg native, Luke Lyon, got touched for nine runs (eight earned) on 11 hits with no walks and one strikeout. He fell to 3-1 on the year.
The Golden Eagles jumped out in front with four runs on six hits in the first frame and never looked back. Wilks started the scoring with a double that knocked in the game's first run, before Billy Butler added a run-scoring single and Monistere drove in a pair with a single.
Wilks then extended the lead to 5-0 on an RBI groundout in the second.
After Troy plated its first run with a Will Butcher sacrifice fly, the Golden Eagles extended the lead to 9-1 in the bottom of the frame with four more runs. Monistere opened the inning with an RBI double before McIntyre singled in a run. After a third run came home via a wild pitch, Pratt finished with a run-scoring single.
A Wilks single to center in the fifth scored a solo run to put the game at 10-1 before the Trojans could close the gap with their final runs of the game in the sixth. After a pair of walks and an error loading the bases and a pair of two outs, Aidan Gilroy doubled over the left fielder's head to account for the final three visiting team runs.
The Golden Eagles then ended the game in the seventh with their final four-run frame. The first tally came via a Gabe Broadus RBI infield single, before Pratt plated a run with an RBI. The Golden Eagles then scored a run via a Trojan error, before Carson Paetow's double to right drove in the final run.
