
Women's Golf to Host The Judson for Third Consecutive Season

HATTIESBURG, Miss. --Â The Southern Miss women's golf team is set to host its annual home tournament, The Judson. The two-day event will begin on Monday, Oct. 28 at Hattiesburg Country Club.Â
Hattiesburg Country Club is set to play as a par-72, 6,339-yard track. Monday will feature 36 consecutive holes over two rounds, while Tuesday's final round will end with a team and individual champion. Both days will start at 8 a.m. with a shotgun start off each hole. The 10-team field includes Alabama State, Belmont, Jacksonville State, Lamar, Mississippi College, Tarleton State, UAB, North Alabama, Western Illinois and the Golden Eagles.Â
Southern Miss' lineup features Taylor Trible, Momoka Ando, Elena Melich, Louise Cuyvers and Ragini Navet. Jacee Fields, Alma Betoret and Fernanda Gorostiaga will play as individuals.Â
Trible leads all Golden Eagles on the course with a 74.67 stroke average. Melich's 74.75 season stroke average makes her and Melich the only two golfers averaging below 75.00 strokes per round. Gorostiaga is set to make her season debut, while Betoret makes her first appearance since the Hoover Invite.Â
Central Arkansas claimed the 2023 team title, while Southern Miss finished in second place at its home course. The Golden Eagles were led by Merche Corbacho's fourth-place finish. Meanwhile, current Golden Eagles Momoka Ando and Taylor Trible both finished tied for ninth. And and Trible both fired a 219 for the event and combined for three rounds of par-or-better golf.Â
The Judson is named in honor of Jim and Beth Judson, parents of former student-athlete Lauren Judson. Jim and Beth tragically passed away in a fatal plane crash on their home from Memphis, Tenn., where Lauren had just competed with Southern Miss.Â
