Soccer Hosts Troy Sunday for Senior Day

HATTIESBURG, Miss.-Southern Miss Soccer (1-6-4, 0-2-4 Sun Belt) hosts Troy (4-7-2, 0-5-1 Sun Belt) at the Marshall Bell Complex on Sunday at 1 p.m. for Senior Day.
The Golden Eagles will recognize 11 players on Senior Day: Grace O'Shaughnessy, Mallory Tapper, Ryan Smith, Adaira Nakano, Hinano Nakagawa, Blessing Kingsley, Victoria Clark, Natalie Wilson, Kesaia Bruni, Chloe Taylor and Alice Williamson.

Southern Miss finished last weekend with its third consecutive tie, the longest streak in program history, with a 2-2 result on the road at Arkansas State.
Sophomore Rebeka Vega converted a penalty kick in the 42nd minute to give Southern Miss the advantage at the break.
While the Red Wolves scored an equalizer shortly into the second half, Adaira Nakano pushed the Golden Eagles back into the lead with her third goal of the season in the 68th minute. However, Arkansas State answered ten minutes later to avoid a home loss.
Southern Miss now turns to prepare against Troy, who suffered a 4-1 defeat last Sunday in Mobile, Ala. against South Alabama.

- The Golden Eagles have recorded ten or more shots in three consecutive games, the longest streak since doing so from Oct. 8 through Oct. 19 of last season. Southern Miss' last streak of four games with ten or more shots came in the final four games of the 2022 season.
- Freshman Raquelle Mitchell leads the team with four goals, marking the most goals by a Golden Eagle freshman since Ilana Izquiredo, the C-USA Freshman of the Year, scored seven in 2021.
- Nakano paces the team with nine points from three goals and a team-high three assists. Nakano's score against the Red Wolves marked her tenth career goal. The Ontario, Canada native has started 29 consecutive games for the Golden Eagles, the longest active streak on the team.
- For the first time in her career, Vega has scored in consecutive games for Southern Miss. Vega is tied for the second most goals on the team with three this season, scoring one apiece in the last two games versus Marshall and Arkansas State.
- With four conference games remaining this season, Southern Miss stands 11th in the Sun Belt and fifth in the West Divison with a 0-2-4 record in conference play. The Golden Eagles look to improve their standing to make the final eight teams who will advance to the Sun Belt Tournament in November.
Scouting Troy
- Troy is led by second-year head coach Stuart Gore, who joined the program from Northwestern State after leading the Demons to 25 wins and an NCAA Tournament appearance in two seasons. Gore won an NAIA National Championship with Northwestern Ohio.
- Danielle Trovato's four assists are tied for the third most in the conference this season.
- Delaney Wells leads Troy with three goals this season, including two-game winning goals.
- Goalkeeper Une Georgsen has made 38 saves this season, which ranks as the eight most in the Sun Belt this season. Georgsen has posted a .717 save percentage, the ninth highest clip in the league.
