Baseball Finishes Five-Game Road Swing at South Alabama

HATTIESBURG, Miss. – The Southern Miss baseball team returns to the road for the final time in a five-game road swing Tuesday when they play at South Alabama. Game time is set for 6:30 p.m. at Eddie Stanky Field in Mobile, Ala.
The Golden Eagles (34-10) hold a ranking as high nationally at No. 5 by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association and at No. 7 by D1Baseball.com after finishing 2-2 last week. Southern Miss opened the week with a win at Southeastern Louisiana and then dropped two of three contests at UAB over the weekend.
The Jaguars (24-18) dropped two of three games at nationally ranked Texas State over the weekend but pasted the Bobcats 21-8 in the series finale.
This will be the third game between the two schools this season. The Jaguars captured the first contest back on Feb. 22, when they posted a 6-5, 13-inning victory in Hattiesburg. The season series, though was evened at Pete Taylor Park on March 8, as the Golden Eagles registered a 7-5 triumph.
South Alabama leads the overall series which dates back to 1967, 67-39 overall and the Golden Eagles are 14-37 in Mobile.
Currently Dustin Dickerson leads the team in hitting with a .352 average, having hit safely in his last 12 games. That is the longest hitting streak in Dickerson's career.
Another Golden Eagle, Gabe Montenegro, continues to make his climb up the Southern Miss career record books as he ranks in the top five in five different categories - No. 3 at singles (224) and at bats (931), No 4 in runs (201), tied for No. 4 in hits (296) and fifth in game played (238).
The game can be watched via webstream at ESPN+ and heard on an affiliate of the Southern Miss Sports Network.
