
Cross Country Set for Sun Belt Championships

HATTIESBURG, Miss. --Â With Southern Miss' women's cross country regular season over, the squad looks southward towards Foley, Ala. and the Graham Creek Cross Country Course for the Sun Belt Conference Championships.
"I'm so proud of this team's regular season performance," said head man Nick Gibson. "We have really come on strong in the latter half of the semester and pretty well positioned for the conference race."
Last Time Out
Gibson's group last ran two weeks ago at Alabama's Crimson Classic on Oct. 14. The team finished sixth out of 21 entries, their third top-six finish of the year in as many tries. The team was led by true-freshman Isabela Ross's sixth-place finish and 20:21.3 finish.
The team collected 153 points in total en route to the sixth-place mark. Erin Phelps crossed the finish in 20:55.6 and 14th overall with Carlin Beal's 35th overall finish in 21:28.2. Southern Miss' scoring five were rounded out by Sarah Parnell's 21:42.4 and Katelyn Cartwright's 21:58.4, with the duo finishing 49th and 62nd overall, respectively.
This the Black & Gold's first appearance at the 5850-meter course.

The traveling Golden Eagles this weekend are Isabela Ross, Rees Van Voorhis, Carlin Beal, Katelyn Cartwright, Sarah Parnell, Erin Phelps, Smilla Kolbe and Oliwia Wawrzyniak.
