Freshman Isabela Ross Leads the Way for XC in Crimson Classic

TUSCALOOSA, Ala.—Freshman Isabela Ross led the Golden Eagles in the 5850-meter run with her sixth-place finish at the Crimson Classic in Tuscaloosa, Ala., for their final regular season meet Friday morning.
Isabella Ross notched a top-10 finish for the first time this season. The Wisconsin native finished sixth, crossing the line with a time of 20:21.3.
The Golden Eagles finished sixth for the second time this season, posting 153 points and an average time of 21:17.2, with the best finish at the Crimson Classic in program history.
"Isabela did an outstanding job today with her top-10 finish. The girls went toe-to-toe with a number of the nation's top teams. They gave us our best finish at this meet as they continued to put up some breakthrough performances. This was a successful end to our regular season, and I am looking forward to their performances in the championships," said head coach Nick Gibson.
Transfer Erin Phelps captured a time of 20:55.6 for 14th place, while senior Carlin Beal added 21:28.2 to come in 35th place, followed by junior returner Sarah Parnell who ran a time of 21:42.4 for 49th.
Katelyn Cartwright (Hernando, Miss.) added a time of 21:58.4 for 62nd place, while, Rees Van Voorhis (McKinney, Texas) rounded things out for the Black & Gold with a time of 23:08.7 for a 106th place showing.
Looking Ahead
The Golden Eagles return to action on Oct. 29 for the Sun Belt Championships in Foley, Ala. Runners will toe the line at 10 a.m. for the 5000-meter run.
