Cross Country on the Road to Tuscaloosa for Crimson Classic

HATTIESBURG, Miss.—The Southern Miss cross country team continues its stride at the Crimson Classic in Tuscaloosa, Ala., on Friday for their first 6000-meter run of the season and will face over a dozen schools, including the No.6 Crimson Tide.
Crimson Classic
The Golden Eagles placed eleventh five seasons ago in the 6000-meter run on Oct. 13, 2017, with 336 points and an average time of 22:10.36. Kate Mattox was the top finisher for the Black & Gold with a time of 21:32.4, finishing 34th overall.
Last Time out
The Golden Eagles continued their season with a 5000-meter run at the Chile Pepper Cross Country Festival in Fayetteville, Ark. this was the program's first appearance at the festival since 2015. They placed second as a team with 129 points and an average time of 17:18. Freshman Oliwia Wawrzyniak led the way, finishing fourth overall to pace the squad and posted another school record with a time of 16:34.8.
The Breakdown
Making the trip to Tuscaloosa is freshmen Isabela Ross and Rees Van Voorhis. Seniors Carlin Beal, and Katelyn Cartwright, junior Sarah Parnell, and graduate student transfer Erin Phelps.

The team will toe the line at 9:20 a.m. at the Harry Pritchett Running Course, and live results will be available.
