Golden Eagles Finish Seventh at Blazer Classic

HOOVER, Ala. - Freshman Cassidy Teuscher once again paced the Golden Eagles as she took home 12th in a loaded field with a time of 21:41.29 in her first collegiate 6K at the Blazer Classic in Hoover, Ala.

"I thought this was a more complete effort," head coach Aaron Kindt said. "The girls did a much better job putting together complete races. Overall, I'm excited with where we are at. I really like how our girls have responded to the circumstances with the season being condensed. They've worked hard and diligently to get themselves ready to have a season."

As a team, the Lady Eagles finished seventh overall with 136 points and an average time of 22:19. Senior Kate Mattox (21st, 22:11.01), Sarah McMillon (25th, 22:16.11), Savannah McMillon (35th, 22:35.31), and Sarah Parnell (43rd, 22:52.37) completed the top five for the Black and Gold behind Teuscher.

Hannah Martin (48th, 23:06.08), Carlin Beal (61st, 23:32.34) and Kaitlyn Cartwright (64th, 23:39.39) rounded out the Southern Miss contingents in the meet.

"Going into a championship race, I still think there's a lot left in the tank as far as getting better," Kindt added.

The Golden Eagles will return to Hoover on Oct. 30 to compete at the C-USA Championship.
