"A really solid effort overall by the group that competed this weekend. We saw a really smooth race out of Monika; she really executed the strategy we put forth for this weekend's race and I was really pleased with that. We had solid performances out of Sarah and Savannah McMillon, Theresa Harto and Regen McGee. Sarah is coming off a big finish out of track and she's coming into her own in cross country which is great to see. Savannah and Theresa grinded out good races and they kept us in the top four. I'm definitely looking forward to getting the rest of the team in there when we go to Vanderbilt and I like where we're at. We continue to get better each week and we need to keep working if we want to compete at the highest level at the Conference USA and South Regional Championships."
Monika Gebarzewska finished 14th, the first to finish of the Golden Eagles. The senior crossed the finish line in 18:34.48. Regen McGee was next, finishing in 18:39.58 and coming in 19th. Sarah McMillon finished in 18:46.36 in 22nd place, a new personal best for the junior. In 26th place was Theresa Harto who finished in 18:54.61. Savannah McMillon came in 32nd at 19:04.93. Freshmen Katelyn Cartwright and Carlin Beal finished back-to-back in 49th and 50th, respectively, with times of 19:40.59 and 19:42.68.
The ladies average time was 18:48.00 with a total time of 1:33:59.96. The Golden Eagles finished behind Alabama, Ole Miss, and Middle Tennessee, but ahead of Memphis, UAB, Rhodes, Little Rock, Hannibal-LaGrange, William Carey, Bethel, Allen CC, and Freed-Hardeman.
