XC to Run in Joe Piane Notre Dame Invitational

SOUTH BEND, IND. – Southern Miss cross country will run in the 64^th Annual Joe Piane Notre Dame Invitational in the Gold Division 5k race on Friday at the Burke Golf Course in South Bend, Ind., with the gun sounding at 3:15pm.

This is the third year in a row that the cross country squad will race in the Joe Piane Invite. Last season, the team finished 12^thoverall with a total of 303 points in the Blue Division race. The team consisted of Sandra Szpott, Kate Mattox, Monika Gebarzewska, Emma Kate Holdbrooks, Lina May, Theresa Harto, Madeleine Bell, Regen McGee, and Victoria Hoppe. Szpott finished first out of her teammates in 32^nd with a time of 17:32.33.

Running in this year's Gold Division 5k race will be Monika Gebarzewska, Theresa Harto, Emma Kate Holdbrooks, Lina May, Kate Mattox, Regen McGee, Sarah McMillon, and Sandra Szpott.

The ladies will be running against the likes of Akron, Belmont, Cal State Fullerton, Calvin, Central Michigan, Clemson, Eastern Kentucky, Hillsdale College, Illinois-Chicago, Illinois State, Indiana State, IUPUI, Kansas State, LSU, Miami (OH), Omaha, Fort Wayne, Southern Utah, Stephen F. Austin, UTEP, Valparaiso, Western Michigan, Wisconsin-Green Bay, Wyoming, and Youngstown State.

The team remains ranked at No. 8 for the second week in a row in the USTFCCCA polls, week three being released on 9/30/19.
