HATTIESBURG, Miss. – The Sun Belt baseball regular season and tournament champion, Southern Miss, starts the NCAA Hattiesburg Regional Friday at Pete Taylor Park/Hill Denson Field against No. 4 seed Little Rock (36-26) at 12 p.m.

The Southern Miss-Little Rock game time was moved up an hour last Thursday afternoon due to impending rain in the area during the afternoon hours.

The seventh-ranked and No. 9 seed overall Golden Eagles (44-15) play host to their second regional in a row and fifth overall, which also features No. 2 Virginia (36-21) and No. 3 Jacksonville State (46-13), who play at 6 p.m.

Both Friday games can be seen via ESPN+, while the Southern Miss game can be heard on an affiliate of the Southern Miss Sports Network as well as through SouthernMiss.com.Â

Southern Miss makes its school best 10th-straight NCAA Tournament appearance and 22nd overall. The Golden Eagles hold a 39-45 all-time NCAA Tournament record, have won three regionals and one super regional, making their lone College World Series appearance in 2009.

The Golden Eagles have enjoyed a stellar month of May that has included a 13-1 record, including winning four of five games last week in the Sun Belt Tournament, including an 11-7 victory in the title game to win their third league championship in their four-year history of the league.

The team is hitting .317 during May, their highest monthly average of the year, while the team's earned run average over that span is at 3.34.

Heading into the weekend, the Golden Eagles feature seven different players hitting over .300 this season, including team leader Matthew Russo, who is at .317. Davis Gillespie ranks second at .316, followed by Joey Urban at .314, both Kyle Morrison and Seth Smith at .313 with Ben Higdon at .308.

Sophomore right-hander Camden Clark, who holds an 8-0 record on the year with a 2.88 ERA, is expected to get the start for the Golden Eagles in the opener.
