Baseball Plays Final Home Midweek Game of Regular Season versus Tulane Tuesday

HATTIESBURG, Miss. – Southern Miss baseball completes a four-game homestand Tuesday when they play host to Tulane in the final home regular season midweek contest. Game time is set for 6 p.m., at Pete Taylor Park/Hill Denson Field.

The game can be viewed via ESPN+, as well as heard through an affiliate of the Southern Miss Sports Network and at SouthernMiss.com.

The No. 18 Golden Eagles (28-12) are fresh off a three-game sweep of league foe Texas State, which moved them into second place in the Sun Belt standings by themselves with an 11-7 record. They trail only Coastal Carolina, who is 15-3 in league play. Southern Miss is also one game ahead of 10-8 South Alabama – who they play this weekend – App State and Troy.

This game marks the first of two contests against the Green Wave (21-20) this season, as the pair match up in New Orleans, Tuesday, April 28, as well. Southern Miss has won the last seven meetings between the two clubs dating back to the 2022 season.

Tulane enters the contest having lost two of three at Florida Atlantic over the weekend in American Conference action.

A quartet of Golden Eagle position players continue to hit over .300 this season, including senior center fielder Joey Urban, who leads the way with a .338 average to go along with nine homers and 32 RBI. Senior second baseman Kyle Morrison is close behind at .336 as well as team bests of 12 homers and 37 RBI.

Junior shortstop Seth Smith is hitting at .313 with two homers and 21 RBI, while Davis Gillespie holds a .311 mark with 10 homers and 33 RBI.

Sophomore right-handed pitcher Cole Richardson (0-0, 2.84 ERA) is also slated to make his first collegiate start in the contest.

Following the Tulane contest, the Golden Eagles next travel to Mobile and start their series at South Alabama on Friday at 6:30 p.m., at Eddie Stanky Field.
