Beach Volleyball Set for FSU Challenge

HATTIESBURG, Miss. – Southern Miss (10-15, 3-1 Sun Belt) heads to Tallahassee, Fla., for the two-day FSU Challenge at Florida State's Seminole Beach Volleyball Courts.
The Golden Eagles take on No. 8 Loyola Marymount (19-5, 5-0 West Coast) and Jacksonville (14-10, 1-6 Atlantic Sun) on Friday, April 3, and No. 5 Florida State (22-1, 6-1 Big 12) and Jacksonville on Saturday, April 4. Live stats will be provided by Florida State on VolleyballLife.com.
Southern Miss opens the weekend against the eighth-ranked Lions of LMU. Loyola Marymount sports an eight-game winning streak since falling 3-2 to No. 5 Texas on March 13. LMU posted a clean 4-0 sheet at the Mid-Season WCC Invitational last weekend to take the top spot in the West Coast Conference standings.
Loyola Marymount finished as the runners-up in the 2025 NCAA Championships, capping off a 38-7 overall season. Southern Miss is 0-6 all-time against the Lions, last playing the series on March 7, 2025, in Los Angeles, Calif.
Jacksonville enters the weekend with a 14-10 overall record and in the midst of a four-game winning streak after winning all four duals at their River City Invitational last weekend. The Dolphins and Golden Eagles have met just once before in 2021 with Southern Miss winning 5-0 in Columbia, S.C.
Southern Miss will play two duals against Jacksonville this weekend on Friday and Saturday.
The Golden Eagles open Saturday's action against the host and fifth-ranked Florida State Seminoles. Florida State is 22-1 on the year with the only loss coming to No. 7 TCU on Feb. 28. Since then, the Noles have won 13 consecutive duals, avenging the TCU loss at last weekend's Big 12 Preview.
FSU posted a 4-0 record last weekend with wins over Boise State, No. 20 Arizona and No. 7 TCU. Florida State finished last season 26-13 overall and 4-1 in CCSA action, falling 3-0 to No. 7 Texas in the CCSA Championship dual. Florida State earned the eighth overall seed in the NCAA Tournament before falling to No. 1 UCLA. Florida State leads the all-time series 6-0 after defeating Southern Miss 4-1 in Hattiesburg last season.
