Women's Golf Set for Sun Belt Championships at Lakewood Golf Club

HATTIESBURG, Miss. -- The Southern Miss women's golf team is set to compete at the Sun Belt Championships this week at The Lakewood Club in Point Clear, Ala. The Golden Eagles head into the event as the reigning champions after advancing to the NCAA Tournament last season.

The Sun Belt Championship will take place on The Lakewood Club's Dogwood Course, a par-72 layout that stretches 6,106 yards. Known for its scenic and demanding design, the course features tree-lined fairways, well-placed bunkers, and fast, smooth greens. The Lakewood Club has a history of serving as host to numerous high-profile tournaments.

The 12-team field will start at 8 a.m. on Monday. Fernanda Gorostiaga will be the first Southern Miss golfer off the tee box, starting on hole 10. Liv Romer, Savannah Van Gaalen, Taylor Trible, and Louise Cuyvers will follow in nine-minute increments. Cuyvers will be the final Golden Eagle off the 10^th hole at 8:36 a.m. Southern Miss is paired with Coastal Carolina and App State in the first round.
