CHAPEL HILL, N.C. — Morgan Guepet and Chloe Stevenazzi each carded a six-over 77 to lead Southern Miss on Saturday in the second round of the Ruth's Chris Tar Heel Invitational, as the Golden Eagles sit 14th at 43-over through 36 holes at Finley Golf Club.
Guepet is tied for 63rd individually at 12-over. She made birdies on the par-5 eighth and the par-4 13th. Stevenazzi is in 65th at 13-over after posting the team's best back-nine score of the day with a 37, and she added a birdie on the par-3 third.
No. 10 Duke leads the team race at six-under after a two-under second round, followed by NC State at two-under and No. 1 Wake Forest at five-over. Host No. 44 North Carolina is seventh at 19-over. Southern Miss sits one shot behind No. 8 Rollins and 13 shots behind Charlotte.
Liv Romer followed with a seven-over 78 and leads the Golden Eagles individually, tied for 43rd at eight-over. The senior played the front nine at three-over 38. Romer is tied for 14th on par-5s, averaging 4.88 strokes.
Louise Cuyvers shot an eight-over 79 and is tied for 56th at 11-over. She carded a four-over 39 on the front nine and made a birdie on the par-5 eighth. Savannah Van Gaalen shot a 12-over 83 and sits 70th at 18-over.
