HATTIESBURG, Miss. — Southern Miss women's golf plays host to The Judson on Monday and Tuesday at Hattiesburg Country Club. The two-day event begins on Monday morning and finishes on Tuesday afternoon.
Hattiesburg Country Club is set to play as a par-72, 6,284-yard track. Monday will feature 36 holes over two rounds, while Tuesday's final round will play 18 holes and end with a team and individual champion. Both days will start at 8 a.m. with a shotgun start off each hole. The 13-team field includes Alabama State, Belmont, East Texas A&M, Jackson State, Lamar, North Alabama, Northern Colorado, Samford, South Alabama, Tulane, UAB, West Florida, and Southern Miss.
The Golden Eagles have tabbed the following golfers to their lineup: Liv Romer, Louise Cuyvers, Savannah Van Gaalen, Morgan Guepet, and Chloe Stevenazzi. Ava Bates will play as an individual.
Southern Miss won the 2024 edition of The Judson, rallying from three strokes back on the final day to beat Tulane in a two-hole playoff at Hattiesburg Country Club. Van Gaalen, then a freshman, sank a 24-foot putt on the second playoff hole to clinch the title, and the Golden Eagles set a new 54-hole low of 851 for the week. Four members of that lineup return this week. Cuyvers shot a team-best 69 in the final round to finish sixth, Romer placed fourth with a 71, and Guepet also played. Tulane returns to the field this year.
The Judson is named in honor of Jim and Beth Judson, parents of former student-athlete Lauren Judson. Jim and Beth tragically passed away in a fatal plane crash on their way home from Memphis, Tenn., where Lauren had just competed with Southern Miss.
