Track and Field Kickstarts Outdoor Season at Bulldog Alumni Relays

HATTIESBURG, Miss. — Southern Miss Track and Field is set to kick off the outdoor season at the Bulldog Alumni Relays Thursday through Saturday in Starkville. Thursday's events will solely feature the hammer throw, while Friday and Saturday will include two full days of competition.
Thursday's hammer throw will begin at noon, while both Friday and Saturday's events will start at 11 a.m. Southern Miss will travel 24 women, including Emme Bates, who anchored the distance medley relay team alongside Cadence Lapp, Addison McLaurin and Olivia Smith to a Sun Belt indoor championship.
On the men's side, 25 athletes will compete in the black and gold, featuring All-Americans Piers Cameron, Tyler Nichols and DeAundre Ward. Competing on the track for Southern Miss is two-time Sun Belt indoor champion Valentino Rudolph, who broke the program record in both the preliminary and final of the 200-meter dash with a time of 20.76 seconds. Rudolph teamed with Javel Fullerton, Jacoby Tanner and Isaiah Thomas to win the 4x400-meter relay.
