Golden Eagles Head to Mobile for Magnolia Collegiate

HATTIESBURG, Miss. -- The Southern Miss women's golf team is slated to participate in the Magnolia Collegiate Monday and Tuesday of this week. The two-day event will be held at the Robert Trent Jones Magnolia Grove Crossings Course in Mobile, Ala.

The 13-team field includes South Alabama, James Madison, Navy, Stetson, Central Arkansas, Missouri State, West Georgia, Seminole State, North Alabama, UT – Arlington, Lipscomb, New Haven, and Southern Miss. The Golden Eagles will play at a par-7 on a course that is measured out to 6,204 yards. The Crossings course, which has hosted both the LPGA Tour and the Korn Ferry Tour Championship, provides an open, parkland-type ambiance. Several water features and crushed oyster shell waste areas were added to provide an exciting new look. All holes feature the acclaimed Mini Verde Ultradwarf greens.

Golden Eagle Nuggets
- Southern Miss has played in a pair of events this spring, with a second-place finish at the Great River Cup to open the second half of the season. The Golden Eagles later placed sixth at the More Than Golf Invitational
- In Aiken, S.C., Cuyvers, Gorostiaga, and Van Gaalen all finished in a tie for 21st. Trible and Romer rounded out the Southern Miss lineup
- Cuyvers is averaging a team-best 73.2 strokes per round and leads the team with nine rounds of par or better golf. Cuyvers has posted a pair of top-three finishes and later finished in a tie for seventh at The Judson, which Southern Miss won back in October
- Trible enjoyed a first-place finish at The Judson in late October. She played three rounds of par or better golf, which featured a three-under 69 in the second round
- Romer had a 3-0 showing at the Great River Cup. The Southern Miss newcomer finished in a tie for fifth at The Judson as she fired a one-under 71 in all three rounds
- Van Gaalen helped Southern Miss clinch The Judson in a playoff as she had the winning put. Her best finish this season was at the Lady Clerico, where she finished in seventh
