Track and Field Adds Two Wins on Final Day of Music City Challenge

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Southern Miss secured a pair of victories in the final day of Vanderbilt's Music City Challenge. The relay team of Tyrique Lewis, Javel Fullerton, Jacoby Tanner and Valentino Rudolph captured the 4x400 title with a time of 3:12.31. Piers Cameron added a win in the shot put invitational with a throw of 19.68 meters.
On the women's side, Emme Bates recorded a fourth-place finish in the 3,000 meters with a time of 9:26.19. The 4x400-meter relay team of Valencia Watson, Addison McLaurin, Jaellene Burgess and Kennedi Sanders placed second in 3:42.54. Joidon Boddie finished fourth in the triple jump invitational with a mark of 12.24 meters, while Meagan Womack took eighth in the shot put invitational at 13.91 meters. Kennedi Sanders also added an eighth-place finish in the 400 meters, clocking in at 55.72.
For the men, Jacoby Tanner placed third in the 400 meters with a time of 48.00, while Fullerton finished seventh in 48.48. Saxon Brown recorded an eighth-place finish in the unseeded 800 meters at 1:51.91. Isaiah Lowrey rounded out the top performances with an eighth-place finish in the triple jump, posting a mark of 14.54 meters.
Southern Miss will take a week off to be back in action at the Sun Belt Indoor Championships on Feb. 23-24.
