No. 12 LSU 4, Southern Miss 1
Southern Miss began the day with a tight match against the host LSU Sandy Tigs (6-0) and came within striking distance of knocking off the tournament hosts. LSU took the first points of the day at the fourth pairing by taking both sets by a combined 10 points. Southern Miss had its chance to take its first point of the dual at the fifth flight with Y-Nhu Do (Cary, N.C.) and Lillie Johnson (Canyon Lake, Texas) taking the first set over LSU. Top flight pairing Laurel Dennis (Gulfport, Miss.) and Sadie McAda (Pleasanton, Texas) pushed the Tigers' top pairing to two close sets before falling 21-17 and 21-19.
Zuzanna Michalska (Warsaw, Poland) and Abby Lewis (The Woodlands, Texas) shocked the homestanding Tigers and took the second flight in straight sets, 21-14 and 21-17, to get Southern Miss on the board in the dual.
North Alabama 3, Southern Miss 2
Southern Miss ended its day in Baton Rouge with a loss to North Alabama (5-3) who held off the Golden Eagles to win 3-2. Southern Miss took the first point of dual thanks to Iustina Corcoz (Bucharest, Romania) and Margarita Grigoreva (Moscow, Russia) winning in straight sets at the fourth pairing.
UNA responded with a three-set win at the fifth pairing to tie the dual 1-1. Southern Miss reestablished control with another three-set win at the third flight behind Kitija Martini Adamsone (Marupe, Latvia) and Jaden White (West Palm Beach, Fla.), winning 15-13 in the deciding set.
The Lions responded again with a 2-0 defeat of Southern Miss' top flight to turn all attention to the second pairing where North Alabama forced a third set after dropping the first. Southern Miss fell behind and fought back to tie the third before a late run from the Lions sealed the flight and dual.
