Southern Miss Concludes Tiger Beach Challenge

BATON ROUGE, La. – Southern Miss beach volleyball (2-6) suffered two hard-fought defeats to conclude its two-day stay at the Tiger Beach Challenge. The Golden Eagles fell 3-2 to No. 18 Washington and ended the day with a 3-2 loss to (RV) Tulane.
No. 18 Washington 3, Southern Miss 2
Southern Miss began the day with a dual against the 18th-ranked Huskies in the second meeting between the two programs. Washington took the first two points of the dual at the fourth and fifth pairings before Southern Miss' No. 2 pairing of Zuzanna Michalska (Warsaw, Poland) and Abby Lewis (The Woodlands, Texas) gave the Golden Eagles their first points of the day.
UW sealed the dual with a slim win at the third pairing but Sadie McAda (Pleasanton, Texas) and Laurel Dennis (Gulfport, Miss.) knocked off the Huskies top flight, setting the overall score at 3-2 in favor of Washington.
(RV) Tulane 3, Southern Miss 2
Southern Miss faced the rival Green Wave (5-4) for the 18th time looking for Southern Miss' first win over (RV) Tulane. Tulane swept the first wave, taking flights four and five before Dennis and McAda got the Golden Eagles a two-set victory at the top flight.
The top flight points staved off the final point for another pairing with Southern Miss pushing the Green Wave to a 21-19, 21-19 pair of set victories to at the third flight take the second Golden Eagle point of the dual. Jaden White (West Palm Beach, Fla.) and Kitija Martini Adamsone (Marupe, Latvia) grabbed point number two for the Golden Eagles and kept the dual alive.
Tulane, though, closed things out with a win at the second pairing to hold on for the 3-2 victory and move to 5-4 on the year.

The Golden Eagles also take on Nebraska and No. 20 Arizona on Friday while closing the tournament with a meeting against the homestanding No. 9 Sun Devils.
