Track and Field Takes on Sun Belt Indoor Championships

HATTIESBURG, Miss. - Southern Miss Track and Field prepares to make their mark at the Sun Belt Indoor Championships Monday and Tuesday in Birmingham, Alabama. The meet will take place at the Birmingham Crossplex.
Last time out, the Golden Eagles secured a pair of victories in the final day of Vanderbilt's Music City Challenge. The relay team of Tyrique Lewis, Javel Fullerton, Jacoby Tanner and Valentino Rudolph captured the 4x400 title with a time of 3:12.31 while Piers Cameron added a win in the shot put invitational with a throw of 19.68 meters. Over the course of the indoor season, Southern Miss earned four weekly awards, broke multiple program records and collected 33 event wins.
The Golden Eagles will head to Birmingham with 50 total athletes, 24 women and 26 men. The meet consists of 13 total teams for the women's championship and seven men's teams. Friday's events will kick off with the pentathlon at 10:20 a.m., while the men's DMR race will conclude day one. Saturday will resume competition with the women's high jump at 11:15 a.m. and will end with the 4x400 meter relays.
