HATTIESBURG, Miss. – Southern Miss women's tennis (2-1) stays home this week with three matches at the USM Tennis Complex, beginning Friday afternoon against McNeese (8-1). The Golden Eagles will also host Florida A&M (1-5) on Sunday and Alcorn State (3-8) on Tuesday.
Southern Miss opened the spring with three matches in four days and now turns right back around for another busy stretch on home courts. The Golden Eagles have been sharp in doubles to start the season, grabbing the doubles point in each of the first three matches and using that early edge to set the pace the rest of the day. Southern Miss also showed composure in tight moments during the opening homestand, finding ways to close out points late in sets and turn matches in singles.
Friday's match against McNeese begins a quick turnaround stretch that will test consistency from start to finish. With another three matches in five days, the Golden Eagles will aim to stay sharp in doubles and keep the pressure on through singles as the homestand continues. Sunday's midday match against Florida A&M and Tuesday's contest against Alcorn State will close the week as Southern Miss looks to keep building momentum on the season.
Southern Miss will have a full roster available for the week, including Hannah Chambers, Gagana Mohan Kumar, Sakura Sudo, Miranda Xu, Kamornwan Kornsila, Pimmada Lim, Mia Hasashi-Morrissey, Celine Mosteanu, Manuella Persson, and Angelina Blinova. Piyanart Engineer leads the Golden Eagles, with Abhijeet Tiwari assisting on staff.
