Southern Miss Opens Spring Slate at Great River Cup

HATTIESBURG, Miss. -- The Southern Miss women's golf team opens up the spring schedule in Gulfport at The Great River Cup this week. The two-day event at Windance Country Club will begin on Monday, with two rounds of match play, and end on Tuesday with the final pairings based on Monday's results.Â
The field includes Arkansas State, Central Arkansas, James Madison, Little Rock, Memphis, Missouri State, Southern Miss, and ULM. It's the third-straight year the Golden Eagles have participated in the event, while ULM has gone back-to-back in 2024 and 2025.Â

Trible took home the individual title thanks to a massive win on hole 17 in a playoff. The Golden Eagles got a big putt from Van Gaalen to secure the playoff win over Tulane. Southern Miss also won the Lady Clerico Invitational in Oklahoma, as Cuyvers finished in third-place to lead the Golden Eagles. Cuyvers leads Southern Miss in stroke average at 72.4 across five events and 15 rounds. Trible is averaging 74.4 strokes per round, while Van Gaalen is sitting at 75.5 strokes per round. As a team, the Golden Eagles.
