Two Qualify for NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships; Singleton Sets Program Record

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Southern Miss track and field athletes Kelsey Singleton and De'Aundre Ward both qualified for the 2025 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships, set for June 11–14 in Eugene, Oregon.

Ward secured his spot on the opening day of the NCAA East Regional, posting a mark of 7.75 meters in the men's long jump, the second-best qualifying distance. Singleton advanced to Eugene with a school-record, personal-best time of 45.66 seconds in the men's 400-meter dash, ranking 11th overall in Jacksonville.

Singleton and Ward were among 14 Golden Eagles who competed at the regional meet. On the men's side, Javel Fullerton clocked 51.09 seconds in the 400-meter hurdles, while Zayne Palomino and Tyler Nichols each cleared 2.05 meters in the high jump. Throwers Conner Mozee and Piers Cameron also represented Southern Miss, with Mozee recording a 51.26-meter effort in the discus and Cameron posting an 18.60-meter mark in the shot put.

For the women, Jelese Alexander and Alana Simon competed in the high jump. Alexander notched a personal best of 1.79 meters, and Simon cleared 1.74 meters. Taliyah Lindsay and Valencia Watson ran in the 200-meter dash, finishing in 23.86 and 24.32 seconds, respectively. Sprinter Kennedi Sanders posted a time of 54.44 in the 400-meter dash. Joidon Boddie competed in the triple jump, recording a mark of 12.44 meters.

The women's 4x100-meter relay team composed of Tacherria Lawson, Watson, Sanders and Lindsay finished with a time of 44.76.

The NCAA Championships will take place at Hayward Field in Eugene and are hosted by the University of Oregon.
