HARRISONBURG, Va. – The Southern Miss outdoor track and field teams travel to Harrisonburg to compete in the Sun Belt Outdoor Championships, set for Thursday through Saturday.
In their last outing, the Golden Eagles posted strong performances across two meets, highlighted by Zayne Palomino's first-place finish in the high jump at the LSU Alumni Gold meet. Palomino cleared 2.18 meters, a mark that secured the win and moved him up to No. 19 nationally in the NCAA Division I rankings.
Southern Miss currently leads the Sun Belt in three events, all on the women's side. Kennedi Sanders and Jaelene Burgess hold the top times in the 400-meter and 800-meter races, respectively. Sanders and Burgess also team up with Addison McLaurin and Taliyah Lindsay to lead the league in the 4x400-meter relay. On the men's side, Piers Cameron ranks second in the shot put, while Kelsey Singleton is second in the 400-meter dash.
Competition begins Thursday with preliminaries and the men's hammer throw and women's javelin. Friday continues with additional prelims and both the men's and women's long jump. Saturday will feature the final events, beginning at 11 a.m. ET and continuing on a rolling schedule.
All times are Eastern and subject to change. The meet will stream live on ESPN+.
