Track and Field Set to Compete in NCAA East Regionals

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The Southern Miss outdoor track and field team is set to compete in 11 events at the NCAA East Regional, taking place May 28–31 in Jacksonville.
De'Aundre Ward will open competition for the Golden Eagle men on Wednesday afternoon, competing in the long jump at 4:30 p.m. His qualifying mark of 7.77 meters ranks him 16th in the East Region. Piers Cameron will follow in the shot put at 6 p.m., entering the meet ranked ninth with a throw of 19.44 meters.
Kelsey Singleton will lead off Wednesday's running events for Southern Miss, competing in the 400-meter dash at 7:25 p.m. Javel Fullerton will close out the day in the men's 400-meter hurdles at 8:20 p.m., where he enters ranked 16th with a time of 50.36 seconds.
On Thursday, Kennedi Sanders is set to compete in the women's 400-meter dash at 7:25 p.m. Taliyah Lindsay and Valencia Watson will follow in the 200-meter dash at 8:45 p.m.
The Golden Eagle men return to action Friday, starting with Conner Mozee in the discus at 1 p.m. Zayne Palomino and Tyler Nichols will compete in the high jump semifinals at 2:30 p.m. Palomino ranks eighth in the region with a jump of 2.18 meters. If they advance, Singleton will run in the men's 400-meter quarterfinals at 6:50 p.m., and Fullerton will race in the 400-meter hurdle quarterfinals at 7:25 p.m., closing out the men's events.
Saturday will feature women's competition, with Joidon Boddie representing Southern Miss in the triple jump semifinals at 2:30 p.m. Alana Simon and Jelese Alexander will compete in the high jump quarterfinals at 3:30 p.m.
The 4x100-meter relay team — Lawson, Sanders, Lindsay, and Watson — will compete in the semifinals at 5 p.m. Sanders will also run in the 400-meter quarterfinals, while Watson and Lindsay are set to compete in the 200-meter quarterfinals upon advancement.
