HATTIESBURG, Miss. – The Southern Miss baseball team returns to the road Tuesday night to face nationally ranked Alabama for a 6 p.m., contest at Sewell-Thomas Stadium in Tuscaloosa.
The game can be seen via SEC Network Plus, as well as heard on an affiliate of the Southern Miss Sports Network.
The trip to Alabama marks the fourth of an eight-game road swing for the Golden Eagles (22-10), who also play at Texas State this weekend for a three-game Sun Belt Conference set before traveling Southeastern Louisiana, April 15, to complete the stretch.
Alabama (27-6) enjoys a national ranking as high as No. 10 in the polls and comes into the game dropping two of three games over the weekend at in-state rival Auburn.
This contest marks the fourth-straight season the two clubs have met on the diamond with Alabama holding a 75-34 advantage in a series that dates back to 1962. Southern Miss, though, has won seven of the last 10 meetings, including a 9-7 victory last season in Hattiesburg.
Senior right-hander Matt Adams makes his fifth consecutive midweek start on the mound for Southern Miss. On the year, he is 2-2 with a 4.05 ERA to go along with 38 strikeouts and just eight walks.
Sophomore Jake Cook continues to lead the Golden Eagles in hitting with a .376 batting average, while Tucker Stockman is next at .342 and Nick Monistere at .305. Ozzie Pratt leads the squad in RBI with 30, while Carson Paetow ranks first on the squad in home runs with 10.
Paetow also enjoys the team's current best hitting streak at six games.
