Women's Tennis Falls to South Alabama

HATTIESBURG, Miss.-Southern Miss women's tennis (4-12, 0-9 Sun Belt) dropped a 4-0 decision to South Alabama (12-5, 5-3 Sun Belt) Saturday morning at the Southern Miss Tennis Complex.
The Golden Eagles had competitive showings with a dominant win on court two in doubles from the duo of Sakura Sudo and Miranda Xu, along with strong starts in multiple singles matches before the Jaguars clinched the match.
South Alabama sealed its second straight conference victory after taking the doubles point with straight-set wins on courts four, one and five.
Sudo led in singles play on court three when the match was halted, while Xu and Gagana Mohan Kumar showed promise by recovering in their second sets.
Southern Miss celebrated Senior Day before the match, recognizing Malannia Vashkevich and Hannah Chambers' accomplishments with the program. Chambers has played three years for the Golden Eagles, earning 24 wins and Vashkevich has earned 14 wins in two seasons with the Black & Gold.
