
Golden Eagles Capture Team Championship at ULM Invitational

MONROE, La. --Â The Southern Miss women's golf team led from start to finish at the ULM Invitational as they captured the team championship at Bayou DeSiard Country Club. Taylor Trible and Momoka Ando both earned top five finishes as Trible finished runner-up.Â
The Golden Eagles topped the 10-team field with a score of 281-284-294 (-5), four shots ahead of ULM. Southern Miss went six-over par to hold off the Warhawks, who went two-over par on Tuesday morning. The Golden Eagles led the field in par five scoring (-9), eagles (2) and birdies (41). They also finished third in par three scoring (+5) and par four scoring (+15).Â
The team set a program record for with a 54-hole total of 589 this week. The previous record was an 872 at the Lady Red Wolves Classic in 2022. The win also gave the Golden Eagles their most wins in a single season since 2016-17 when they had three - Southern Miss has two this season. On the individual side, Trible tied the low 54-hole total record with a 211. Her score tied Nichada Satasuk's score at the Kiawah Island Intercollegiate in 2017.Â
Though Trible led the Southern Miss team on the overall leaderboard, Ando delivered the low score on the final day as the senior fired a one-under 71. Trible posted a two-over 74 on Tuesday to go along with three birdies. Elena Melich finished in 11th after shooting a one-over 74 - it was the second lowest score for the senior this week.Â
Freshman Louise Cuyvers brought in a four-over 76 en route to a 20th-place finish. Alma Betoret also posted a 76 as she finished in 40th. The win wrapped up the regular season for the Golden Eagles as they netted two tournament wins and four top-five finishes - not including the wins. Southern Miss will next participate in the Sun Belt Championships at The Lakewood Club in Point Clear, Ala., on April 14-17.Â
