
Golden Eagles Collect Back-to-Back Sweeps at Georgia State’s Day of Duals

ATLANTA – Southern Miss beach volleyball closed its day at the Georgia State Day of Duals with back-to-back sweeps over College of Charleston and Tennessee Tech. The Golden Eagles improve to 4-8 on the year and now sit with a 1-1 Sun Belt Conference record.
No. 18 Georgia State 4, Southern Miss 1
Madison Cassidy (Baton Rouge, La.) and Zuzanna Michalska (Warsaw, Poland) took down the Panthers' top flight in three sets to give Southern Miss its first point of the day. Jessica Fairly (Fort Walton Beach, Fla.) and Giovanna Gurgel Bahia (Recife, Brazil) also pushed the Sandy Panthers to three sets at the fifth pair but fell 15-10 in the deciding set.
Laurel Dennis (Gulfport, Miss.) and Sadie McAda (Pleasanton, Texas) fell in two sets but came within five and three points in each set, respectively.

The Golden Eagles got their first win of the day in a 5-0 sweep against Sun Belt foe College of Charleston. Fairly and Bahia got the sweep started at the fifth pair with a two set victory and were quickly followed by Jaden White (West Palm Beach, Fla.) and Kitija Martini Adamsone's (Marupe, Latvia) two-set win at the fours.
Russell/Do sealed the win for Southern Miss at the threes with a three-set comeback win. Cassidy/Michalska improved to 2-0 on the day with a two-set win at the top flight and Dennis/McAda finished off the sweep of the Cougars in a three-set win at the second pair.

Cassidy/Michalska improved to 3-0 on the day with all three wins coming at the top flight.
