Women's Tennis Prepares for Weekend Slate Against Texas State and Louisiana

HATTIESBURG, Miss. – Southern Miss women's tennis (4-9, 0-6 Sun Belt) start a home stretch this weekend with two conference matchups against Texas State (13-3, 4-1 Sun Belt) on Saturday at 10 a.m. and Louisiana (8-5, 1-3 Sun Belt) on Sunday.
The Golden Eagles are looking to bounce back after dropping matches at James Madison and Old Dominion last weekend.
Texas State is coming off a three-game homestand in which they went 3-0, securing a 4-1 win versus Louisiana before winning 4-1 against Arkansas St and taking ULM down 4-0.
The Bobcats are led in doubles play by Callie Creath and Kiana Graham, who have combined for ten wins. Ireland Simme is the team's top singles competitor at 12-0, and Emily Niers follows closely behind at 11-1.
The Ragin' Cajuns are coming off of a split series, beating ULM 4-1 and falling to Texas St 4-1. Louisiana is led by Angelique Berrat and Nina Krecklenberg, both of whom have seven wins in singles play.
Southern Miss last faced Texas State in Hattiesburg last season, falling 4-1. The Golden Eagles last faced Louisiana in the regular season in 2017, winning 4-3 in Lafayette.
Following Saturday's match, the Golden Eagles will stay home for one more week to face South Alabama.
