
Women's Tennis Falls to Old Dominion

NORFOLK, Va.-Southern Miss women's tennis (4-9, 0-6 Sun Belt) fell 4-1 in a battle against Old Dominion (11-4, 5-0 Sun Belt) on Sunday at the Folkes-Stevens Tennis Center.
The Golden Eagles picked up its lone point in singles play from a forfeit on court six, as the Monarchs secured the win behind strong performances in both singles and doubles competition.
Old Dominion claimed the doubles point, with Sofia Johnson and Victoria Matasova defeating Jordan Parker and Hanah Chambers 6-2 and Lidiia Rasskouskaia and Ulyana Romanova beating Malannia Vashkevich and Talia Wunnenberg 6-0. The Golden Eagles won on court three by forfeit.
The Monarchs carried their momentum into singles action, picking up three straight-set victories to remain undefeated in conference play. Meanwhile, the matches at No. 3 and No. 4 remained unfinished, with Miranda Xu leading 6-1, 3-2 and Sakura Sudo battling back from a loss in the first set.
Southern Miss returns home to begin a three-game home stretch, beginning Saturday, March 29 against Texas State.
