
Women's Tennis Faces JMU and ODU in Sun Belt Road Swing

HATTIESBURG, Miss. – Southern Miss women's tennis (4-7, 0-4 Sun Belt) continues its road stretch this weekend with two conference matchups, visiting James Madison (4-10, 2-2 Sun Belt) on Saturday at 9 a.m. CT and Old Dominion (9-4, 3-0 Sun Belt) on Sunday at 9 a.m. CT.
The Golden Eagles are looking to bounce back after dropping matches at Marshall and App State last weekend. Miranda Xu highlighted the team's performance with a 6-2, 7-6 (7-5) straight-set win at No. 3 against the Mountaineers. Xu leads the team with seven singles victories this season.
James Madison split its road trip last weekend, securing a 4-1 win at Georgia State before falling 4-2 at Troy. The Dukes are led in doubles play by Ines Oliveira and Sophie Williams, who have combined for eight wins. Sophie Williams, Mia Saveljic, and Daria Munteanu each have 13 points in singles competition this season.
Southern Miss last faced JMU in the 2023 spring season, falling 4-1 in Harrisonburg, Va.
Following Saturday's match, the Golden Eagles will head to Norfolk, Va., to face Old Dominion. The Monarchs hold a perfect 7-0 record at home and are one of two teams still undefeated in Sun Belt play, along with Coastal Carolina.
