BATON ROUGE, La. – Southern Miss (1-9) fell to No. 64 LSU (9-8) in a 7-0 match on Sunday afternoon at the LSU Tennis Complex. The Golden Eagles battled in several singles matches but were unable to break through against the nationally ranked Tigers.

LSU set the tone early by securing the doubles point with wins at the No. 1 and No. 3 positions. No. 45 Aleksi Lofman and Julien Penzlin defeated Pasawee Reansuwong and Niklas Jensen, 6-3, while Brock Anderson and Alessio Vasquez earned a 6-2 victory over Olle Noltorp and Maxim Vulic. The No. 2 doubles match was left unfinished with LSU leading 4-3.

In singles play, Southern Miss put up a fight, but LSU controlled the match with straight-set wins across all six courts. Noltorp pushed Markovic early at the No. 1 position before falling 6-4, 6-2. Jensen and Ricards Spaks also had competitive first sets before the Tigers pulled away.

Southern Miss will host Alcorn State University at home for a 2 p.m. match on Wednesday, March 12.
