Beach Volleyball Sweeps Palm Beach Atlantic on First Day of FIU Invite

MIAMI, Fla. – Southern Miss suffered a 4-1 setback to No. 17 FIU but rallied in its second game of the tournament to sweep Palm Beach Atlantic 5-0 at the FIU Invite.
The Golden Eagle's (2-5) second pairing of Laurel Dennis and Sadie McAda finished the day undefeated, winning in three sets over FIU's twos and in a clean sweep over Palm Beach Atlantic.
No. 17 FIU 4, Southern Miss 1
Southern Miss kicked off the tournament against its host, No. 17 FIU (3-2). The Panthers collected the first point of the day at the fourth pairing before Southern Miss knotted the match at 1-1 thanks to Laurel Dennis (Gulfport, Miss.) and Sadie McAda's (Pleasanton, Texas) three-set win at the second pair.
FIU slowly but surely closed out the match, collecting dual wins at the remaining three pairings to move to 1-0 on their home sand.

Looking to rebound after their tournament-opening loss, the Golden Eagles charged out against Palm Beach Atlantic (5-1). Dennis and McAda made quick work at the twos, winning in two sets to move their unbeaten streak to five consecutive games.
Carmen Sanchez Delgado (Malága, Spain) and Jaden White (West Palm Beach, Fla.) earned the second Black & Gold points at the fourth position, allowing top flight pair Madison Cassidy (Baton Rouge, La.) and Zuzanna Michalska (Warsaw, Poland) to earn the deciding points of the day.
Dylan Russell (Oklahoma City, Okla.) and Y-Nhu Do (Cary, N.C.) earned the fourth point of the day with Jessica Fairly (Fort Walton Beach, Fla.) and Giovanna Gurgel Bahia (Recife, Brazil) finishing off the Sailfish to complete Southern Miss' sweep.
